Fitzroy night street art photography walks..

I did mean to publish this blog the minute I got home, but completely forgot about it until I just started looking through my photos.

Last week I got an invite from a good friend of mine, Gina, who was going on a night photography walk around Fitzroy/Collingwood to take some snaps of the amazing street art we all take for granted.

Gina works in film ( Her pilot 'Out of your box' can be found on youtube) and was hosting a show being based on the photographer who takes the walks.

It was a freezing night when we all set out from the Workers Club on Brunswick St and made out way down to Little Creatures dining hall to get a few shots of the space they have.. From there we made our way through all of the lane ways around the place and got some really great shots, well when I  say 'we' I really mean the photographers that were on the walk.

It was really exciting walking around places that I pass every day on the way to work, but am oblivious to how lucky we are to have so much artistic expression everywhere we go.

The photos in this post are all pics I took, so forgive me for them not being great....Photography is something that I have always had a soft spot for, however have never really made a go of it.

I hope you like them all the same x

It's time for a holiday...Infine!

How horrible is this weather? Wind...Rain...Earthquake.....
Melbourne is definately copping all the bad luck with it at the moment..
Luckily for me, I'm planning a trip to Vietnam, so I'll be leaving you all behind in this cold weather and heading off to the land of beautiful beaches and of course... lots of  tailors..... Exciting stuff!
(Da Nang beach in Vietnam)

So tonight I'm sitting here with the flu, looking at all of the Fall 2011/2012 collection trying to figure out what amazing pieces I'll be getting tailored while I'm there......

I think first on the list to get made will  be a couple of  Trench Coats, I found some that I am in LOVE with... see below

Loving this Military inspired jacket.... Especially the detailing on the cuffs

The great thing about getting everything made for you in Vietnam, is that you give them a picture of what you want, and they tailor it for you....In whatever colour you want..Perfect.
This Trench looks oh so snuggly

The leather detail on this one adds a nice touch.

And of course, what trip to a tailor would be complete without getting a few suits made, Im thinking I'll stick to the basics as far as colour is concerned, so I'll get 1 Navy Blue, 1 Black, 1 Charcoal and 1 Pinstripe, Thank you very much.

So thats pretty much were Im at with everything at the moment, feeling horrible on the couch, but excited for what the next few months will bring...
Hope everyones well

Now that we all have our winter woolies out.....

What is in this winter? Where do we get it?
The best part of the changing seasons in Melbourne is the massive changes we see in fashion... You can tell its Winter when everyone fishes out their scarves & jackets from the back of the wardrobe... Such an exciting time. Its almost like going shopping..the thrill of pulling out items of clothing that havn't seen the light of day for 6 months and getting to wear them again, it makes you feel like you did when you first bought them. Take your favourite classic pea coat, something that will never go through a winter without being worn.

Its super exciting being able to layer it with new finds or with old favourites, brighten it up with a statement scarf or mix it up however you want.
One of my personal favourite things about winter is that i get to get out all of my scarves, something that i think i may have a slight addiction to. At last count I had around 60, but no matter where I go, I always manage to find another one I just CANT walk out of the shop without buying. I currently have my eyes on a blue & white polka dot one & torture myself everyday by walking past the shop, just to look of course, and not wanting to go in because I know that the minute I walk in the credit card will come out.

Another addiction that I have is cardigans, buttoned up over the top of your corporate work wear or just  casual on the weekend, they never fail to look great. There seems to be so many big chunky knit cardigans around this season, and my dreams of finding a 6 figure salary(or rich man) to be able to buy them all just cant come soon enough.

So with all this positive talk about winter, what are the downsides to it........
The one thing that stands out in my mind about winter is...BLACK! I totally understand how easy it is, and how much you DONT have to think about it, but come on people. Winter in Melbourne is dreary enough, lets liven it up a little and break the trend of wearing so much black during these cold months.

Spotlight: ETRO Mens Fall 2011/2012

Etro's zany styling aside, the fall collections features menswear classics in rich colors and bold, but traditional, prints. The majority of Etro's line would make great wardrobe staples, and look people....Colour!!

If your on the lookout for something you just know everyone will envy you for, Etro probably has it.
I love the way they blend bold prints with wardrobe staples and make it look so effortless.

I love the bohemian Chic look they have adopted for their Fall 2011/2012 campaign which was shot by Mario Testino.

Hope you guys like it as much as I do.

Till next time....
Dan

Some photos from the weekend...

So as we mentioned before here are our photos from the weekend..not all of them of course..what kind of people would we be if we didn't save a little something for ourselves...or to show at another time in another post......

And another weekend comes to a close....

Well....We have had an amazing weekend with the boys & girls...sadly it has to end!
Ahh back to work tomorrow..never a nice idea to entertain! We have taken a heap of photos to share with everyone, that will be posted shortly. Saturday night was a planned 'quiet' night n with Chris, Ilker, Kelly & Amy which after eating Chris & Ikers tantalising bruschetta we followed with an amazing dinner of Osso Bucco(cooked by myself of course)then followed up with Kelly's famous brownies...ahh so tasty and so moreish! There was ALOT of wine, followed by ALOT of dressing up!

In preparation for our next house party (Theme: Drag) we tried on a few ladies clothes and strutted our shit like it was 1998...There were moments of hilarity closely followed by moments of WTF... but at all times there was laughter & good fun to be had!

One thing I will say is that i have SO much respect for the ladies walking around in heels all day.. I had them on for about 10 minutes and my feet are STILL suffering today..

Last night was definately one of those nights that makes you appreciate having good friends, being able to do and say whatever you want to, without the thought of anyone judging you & just generally being embraced by everyone for being you....

Today we went for a little wander to the Collingwood Children's Farm & Abbotsford Convent for some deelish food at Lentil as Anything... Always such a nice relaxing atmosphere and always a good feed.   It was such a nice day to be outside and we finally had some sunshine, of course what Sunday adventure would be complete without a bit of a photo shoot along the way.. Walking along the Yarra we couldnt help but find multiple locations that we thought were perfect for some shots of us... Shots that we will share shortly & once you see Im sure we will all agree that Terry Richardson has nothing on us and our amazing (or inept?) photographic skills!

We went out in search of some images that we could put on our T shirts and we came home with several that we think are going to look great..Cant wait to share.

All in all we had a great weekend & if you did something amazing or found a new spot that you think everyone should know about, make sure you email us and tell us all about it..

Welcome

So.....Just sitting here on the couch with my mate Gina having a wine...Gina has just bought an I-phone and has discovered an amazing new app called 'toiletmate'...... It helps you find any public toilet within 5km.... is there any end to the ridiculousness of iphone apps? Where does it stop? Will it stop? Do we even want it to stop?
In this day and age society has become so reliant on technology we are using it to find public toilets? Hang on.... Is this like Grindr version 2? Men looking for the next 'big thing' in cruise spots?

Over the next few days were on a journey to find these answers and many more for you!
